If Keith Hutchings, Newfoundland and Labrador’s minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs,  has his way he would like to see a way forward to get seal products from here into the US markets in light of recent comments made by the US ambassador Bruce Heyman. Mr. Heyman believes now is the time to increase imports between the two nations and individual provinces.

Minister Hutchings has written to the US ambassador about the controversial U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) passed by the U.S. Congress in 1972 that includes a ban on seal products being imported into the U.S.
