St. John’s: There is news today that an online scam has duped some sealskin buyers in the province for thousands of dollars. The “seller” who went by the Facebook name of “Dana Mitchell” from Corner Brook promised contacts she met online she could custom design sealskin jackets for them. Her Facebook account even had endorsements from “Friends” profiles. Advance payments were made to the “seller” and it was soon discovered the seller was not in Corner Brook and the bank account was not in her name. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary are involved with the investigation now. It is alleged some victims are out up to $1000 in some cases.
