St. John’s: –   Home From The Sea, the organization formed to pay respect to the those who perished on the ice back in the 1914 sealing disasters are close to unveiling a memorial to those 251 men, from both the SS Newfoundland and the SS Southern Cross, who lost their lives from being stranded on the ice or from their ship sinking. The town of Elliston lost eight men from those sealing disasters of 1914. The campaign to raise $2 million met their objective and the unveiling of an interpretation center, a memorial statue and an interpretive path should happen in June of this year.
