In demonstrating support of the sealing industry to celebrate it’s heritage and cultural history, and promotion of how sustainable management of our resources impacts our economy in Canada, Canadian politicians and senators are proposing the passing of an enactment to designate May 20 as “National Seal Products Day”.

CBC Newfoundland radio show The Broadcast has an audio piece on this proposal and talks to MP Scott Simms and local conservationist Shane Mahoney on the importance of this proposal.
