Teresa Prince enjoys sharing the facts about the sealing industry with worldwide travelers and tourists who drop by the Dock Marina craft shop she manages in Marina Dock, Trinity. She says she gets pleasure out of sharing the history of the seal hunt and why it’s important to this province’s culture. She is aware that some of the tourists who enter the shop are somewhat hesitant at first about purchasing a sealskin product but when they hear the true facts, as opposed to the propaganda spread by animal rights groups in the media, they are surprised and happy to purchase some craft product made from sealskin.

Teresa also gets looks of bewilderment when she explains how countries like the USA have an import ban on seal products yet have a very healthy hunting practice for wildlife themselves. She has to warn customers they may have their purchase taken from them at the border when crossing back to the USA but some say they will be happy to take that chance if it arises.
