Sealskin is a more difficult material to work with compared to leathers and synthetic coverings, according to Danny Swearinger, but he believes the look of the finished pieces are worth the extra effort.

American Danny Swearinger has been in the upholstering and repairing furniture business for decades working with the usual materials such as leather. Then a move with his wife, who is from Labrador, to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, brought him face to face with a new material – sealskin. He admits it is tougher to work with but the results are well worth it. Sealskin is banned in the USA.
