Undergraduate 4th year student Jenn Wilkins at Memorial University’s Ocean Sciences Centre in Logy Bay Newfoundland is studying seal teeth. It was during her course coastal archeology she discovered she could combine her love of history with archeology. She received a Engineering Research Council of Canada Undergraduate Student Research Award to study seal teeth. One result Wilkin’s discovered were the lines in the teeth which denotes a life year hence if you add them up you get the age of the seal.
