Jack TroakeThe Canadian Sealers Association was saddened to hear of a well-known and respected resident of Twillingate Captain Jack Troake, who championed the causes and rights of the sealing industry, has passed away on Wednesday at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital at the age of 88.

A well-known sealing captain, Troake was a long-time advocate for tour sealing fishery, heritage and culture. Historians, mariners, writers and folklorists often sought him out for his story-telling. RIP Captain Jack Traoke
