That’s the analogy Dion Dakins uses to describe the work that lies ahead to rebuild the sealing industry in Atlantic Canada.

Dakins is the chief executive officer of Carino, a company in Newfoundland and Labrador that produces health supplements from seal oil, along with food and textiles.

Although the recent seal summit in St. John’s included a display of products made from seal, the focus of the two-day event was not on marketing, Dakins said.
