As part of the fundraiser for the support for the Sealers Memorial Campaign by the Elliston Heritage Foundation and the Home From The Sea committee, the following chefs participated in the Seal of Approval Dinner held April 26, 2012 at the Quidi Vidi Brewery.
This campaign was initiated by the Elliston Heritage Foundation in 2008 “with the initial goal of creating a lasting memorial to those who lost their lives”. The town of Elliston, like many other communities, suffered greatly as a result of the SS Newfoundland’s misfortune. This, coupled with the town’s rich sealing history, makes it a fitting location for the interpretive home.
